Tools and equipment

A bread baker should have the following equipment.

English measure: Measuring spoons, measuring cups.

Metric measure: Scale

Everyone who is serious about baking bread should have a scale.

Other equipment: mixing bowls, sturdy spatulas and spoons, large bowls for fermentation (q.v.) and rising (q.v.), plastic wrap, bench scraper, thermometer, baking stone or tiles, water spritzer bottle, baking sheets, parchment paper, bread baking pans, baker's peel, very sharp knife or razor blade, large stand mixer and automatic bread machine.

The beginning baker will have a lot of this equipment in his kitchen. As he advances, he will add the more specialized things or not, as he desires.
